Rhythms Of The Night
By: Alissa Kubida
Imagine walking into a vacant, run-down building, ravaged by Hurricane Floyd, and standing on what seems to be the floor, covered with inches of mud, leaves, and other debris. Now, try to picture a beautiful room full of tables, chairs, booths, a bar...no, make that two bars, a dance floor, and a stage where the band will play. Can't? Neither could anyone else; that is, except for John Pettoni, CPA and restaurateur.
What was once a roller skating rink turned country dancing bar (the old Yellow Rose), is now Rhythms of the Night & Johnny Pett's Steakhouse, a pub/restaurant/night club with a banquet room for private parties to boot. You can gather from the lengthy description that, not only is the place huge, but it will appeal to people of all ages and tastes. Whether you're looking for a place to have a drink, dinner, or let loose, Rhythms of the Night has it all.
From floor to ceiling, the restaurant is littered with musical memorabilia, ranging from old musical instruments (including John's first accordion) to record album covers, which line the inside top shelf of the main bar, to pictures of some of the greatest musicians of all time; Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, and "Ol' Blue Eyes" to name a few. Just beyond the main bar lies the hardwood dance floor, leading to the stage where a mural of a band 'rocks on' on the back wall.
The Italian-American [and Steakhouse] fare, deliciously prepared by Chef Jose Gonzales (previously of the Tomato Grille in Clinton and the Winchester House in Annandale), will please even the most discriminating taste. And there is certainly no shortage of personality here. Whether it's Gus, the bartender who is not too inconspicuously trying to read this review over the bar (upside down, I might add), or the smiling hostess and waitstaff eagerly waiting to greet you as you walk in, the atmosphere is invigorating and, once again, alive.
What was once just John Pettoni's dream, that some considered a nightmare, is now an exciting reality. With local bands booked every Friday and Saturday night and a private room upstairs, the restaurant can accommodate your every desire. So bring your appetite for a good time and feel the Rhythms of the Night.

This was a surprisingly nice bar. There are not many places to go out at night in this area of NJ, and Rhythms is a large bar that is a fun atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and the music was also good. I have heard that the food is good as well and would love to try it sometime soon.

Great food, nice big place, great deck off back of bar area,Gus the bartender fantastic, personable guy, fast and efficent. Bands are ok with the exception of Annonymous number 1 band for all ages, dance the night away currently they are only playing once a month as i understand so for those of you who want to dance interact and meet a fun friendly outgoing crowd, Annonymous At Rhythms is the place to be. Food highly recommended, Gus highly recommended, The band Annonymous highly recommended.
I have seen many bands 2 top in my book Fuzzpops & Annonymous where ever they play is where you should be. Bar/night club is good when Annonymous plays the place is nearly full but still alittle room left for more! Service and food quaility A+......

This is a big, very nice clean, 2 bars, dance floor, good bands. No pool tables, When warm there is a really nice back deck where you can sit and chill with friends and smoke- I go back there for my cigar smoking with friends.
The place does bring some big bands, music is a little loud, a little hard to talk inside. This is a good place to go after work because you will never be squashed in or cramped. Watch out for the cops in manville- mostly 25 mph- set the cruise control if you have been drinking! This place is worth a try...

Trying to get good beef is sometimes difficult in west central NJ. J.P.'s has some of the best steaks and prime rib I've had ever!
Rhythms is a large upscale dance club with three bars, a huge dance floor and excellent live music bands. J.P.'s Steakhouse menu is All-U-Can Eat Salad Bar, Fresh Cut Angus steaks, Pastas, Chicken, Baby Back Ribs, seafood and more. The chef Jose includes 3 to 5 specials each week that are superb!
Out back is a spacious deck and tiki bar that overlooks the Millstone River. It's always a pleasant retreat for dining, a bit of quiet, extra privacy in conversation and cool breezes.

Rhythms is a great place to go for a fun and fulfilling night out. My favorite dish is the surf and turf. You get a choice of three different meats and 3 different fish. I always get the fillet mignon and the king crab leg. This is a great place to go for date night. Where else can you get a great dinner and live entertainment? They also have 10.95 early bird specials during the week.
